「わざわざ」とは、しなくてもいいことを、あえて選ぶ行為です。二百年前の学校に、世界中から本が集まってくる二日間。入場は無料で、つくっているのは3人と、当日集まるボランティアたちです。寄付もまた、わざわざのひとつだと思っています。しなくてもいい。見返りもない。それでも選んでくださる方と、この場所を一緒につくりたい。
Waza Waza means choosing to do the thing you did not have to do. For two days, books gather from all over the world in a school built two centuries ago. Admission is free, and it is made by three of us and the volunteers who join on the day. We think giving is its own waza waza: unnecessary, unrewarded, and chosen anyway. We would like to build this place together with the people who choose it.

To Keep Going
文化の催しは、どうしても都市に集まります。人が多く、お金が動き、人目につくからです。わたしたちは、あえて伊賀を選びました。届きにくい場所にこそ本は運ばれるべきだし、そこまで来てくれる人がいると信じているからです。そして実際に、ラトビアから、国内各地から、本が旅をしてここに集まりました。
はじめたのは3人です。報酬は受け取っていません。それは我慢ではなく、選択でした。しなくてもいいことを、あえてやってみる——このフェアの名前は、そのままわたしたちのやり方でもあります。
いま本をつくる人たちは、旅費も滞在費も送料も、自分で引き受けて伊賀まで来てくださいます。その心意気に支えられて、このフェアは立っています。だから次にやりたいことは、はっきりしています。つくった人が、費用を気にせず本を持って来られる場所にすること。遠くの誰かが「行ってみようかな」と思ったとき、お金がその足を止めないようにすること。
伊賀に縁がなくても構いません。本や、つくり続ける人が、この先も続いてほしいと思う方。人が人に本を手渡せる場所が、世界にもう少し多くあってほしいと思う方。よかったら、一緒につくってください。
Cultural events gather in cities — where the people are, where the money moves, where they will be seen. We chose Iga on purpose. Books should travel to the places hardest to reach, and we believed people would come that far. They did: books have journeyed here from Latvia and from all over Japan.
Three of us started this, and none of us takes payment. That is not endurance; it is a choice. Doing the thing you did not have to do — the name of this fair is also how we work.
Today our exhibitors cover their own travel, lodging and shipping to reach Iga. The fair stands on that spirit. So what we want next is clear: a fair where makers can bring their books without counting the cost — where money never stops someone who thought, “maybe I will go.”
You need no connection to Iga. If you want books, and the people who keep making them, to carry on — if you want a few more places in the world where one person can hand a book to another — please build it with us.

使いみち
What It Funds
まず、人が出会う場所に。遠くから来た出展者と、当日を支える市民ボランティアが、同じ卓を囲む時間をつくりたいと思っています。本が並ぶ二日間そのものより、そこで交わされた会話の方が長く残ります。伊賀が「一度行った場所」ではなく「知り合いのいる場所」になること——それがこのフェアを伊賀でやっている理由そのものです。いまは予算が届かず、来てくださった方にも手を貸してくれた人にも、十分な席を用意できていません。
次に、この二日間を成り立たせるために。畳の上に本を並べるための卓と什器、会場の設営と撤収、そして終わったあとに残す記録。どれも派手ではありませんが、これがないとフェアは立ち上がりません。
そのうえで、残ったぶんは本をつくる人たちへ。旅費、滞在費、本を送る送料——いま出展する方に負担していただいているものを、少しずつこちら側へ移していくこと。今年すぐに全部というわけにはいきませんが、そこへ向かうための一歩めとして使わせていただきます。
First, into the place where people meet. We want to put exhibitors who travelled far and the residents who volunteer around the same table. What is said there outlasts the two days of books themselves. Iga becoming not “somewhere I once went” but “somewhere I know people” — that is the whole reason we hold this fair here. Right now our budget cannot set a table large enough for everyone who came, or everyone who helped.
Next, into what makes the two days possible: the tables and fittings that hold books above the tatami, building the venue up and taking it down, and the record we keep afterwards. None of it is glamorous. Without it there is no fair.
Then, what remains goes to the people who make the books: travel, lodging, the cost of sending books. Moving those costs, little by little, from their side to ours. We cannot do all of it this year. This is the first step toward it.

オープニングパーティー
The opening party
遠くから来た出展者と、当日を支える市民ボランティアが顔を合わせる場です。ここで交わした会話が、伊賀を「一度行った場所」から「知り合いのいる場所」に変えます。いまは予算が足りず、わざわざ出向いてくださった方にも、手を貸してくれる人たちにも、十分な席を用意できていません。ケータリング（お店ごと来ていただける形）、伊賀の地酒、会場でのご協力を探しています。
Where exhibitors who travelled far meet the residents who volunteer to make the days happen. The conversations here are what turn Iga from “somewhere I once went” into “somewhere I know people.” Our budget does not stretch far enough to set a proper table for the people who came all this way, or for those who gave their hands. We are looking for catering (brought and served by you), local Iga sake, or a room.

何もできないと思っている方へ
If You Think You Can’t Help
フェアは二日で終わります。でも、来年も開けるかどうかは、その二日ではなく、その前の数か月で決まります。協賛や助成をお願いしにいくとき、見られるのは当日の熱気ではなく、開催前にどれだけの人がこの場所に反応したかです。だから、いま押していただく「いいね」がいちばん効きます。
The fair lasts two days. Whether there is another one is decided in the months before it, not during it. When we go to ask for sponsorship or funding, what gets looked at is not the excitement on the day but how many people responded beforehand. A “like” now carries further than you would think.
- Instagram をフォローするFollow on Instagramそれだけで、次の誰かに届きやすくなります。That alone makes the next post reach further.
- 投稿にいいね、シェアLike and share the posts全部でなくてかまいません。開催前のいまが、いちばん効く時期です。Not all of them — and now, before the fair, is when it counts most.
- 誰かに話すTell someone「伊賀でこんなのがあるらしい」の一言で十分です。人は、人から聞いた話で動きます。“Apparently there’s this thing in Iga” is enough. People move on what they hear from people.
- 当日、来るCome, on the day2026年9月26日・27日・入場無料。本を手に取って、つくった人と話す。それがいちばんの支えです。September 26 and 27, 2026, free entry. Pick up a book, talk to the person who made it. That is the greatest support there is.
- 来たあと、写真を一枚Post a photo afterwardsその一枚を見た人の中に、来年の来場者がいます。ここまでが、このフェアです。Someone who sees it will be next year’s visitor. That, too, is part of the fair.
