2022、種が落ちた。
A seed fell, 2022
Director をしている Lilyです。伊賀を拠点に芸術活動をしています。自分はアーティストと名乗るよりずっと前から、0→1で何かを作ることをずっとやってきました。気がつけば、制作活動・個展・展示の延長に「場を作ること」「展開させること」が広がっていきました。
2022年、絵本『もけら もけら』で知られる元永定正さんの生誕100年展が、崇広堂で行われました。ちょうどパリに3ヶ月ほど滞在し長く続けたキャリアを手放し、帰国したばかりの頃でした。
板が軋む音を感じながらこの会場を歩き、作品を感じ、時々畳に腰を下ろす。元永さんの作品を鑑賞しながら、自然の風や光が行ったり来たりするのを感じて——「ここで何かやりたい」と思い始めました。初めての個展を試みる、ずっと前のことでした。
I'm Lily, director of Waza Waza. I live and work in Iga as an artist — though long before I ever called myself one, what I've always done is make things from zero to one. Somewhere along the way, beyond making work, solo shows and exhibitions, that practice grew into making places, and letting them unfold.
In 2022, Sukodo hosted the centennial exhibition of Motonaga Sadamasa, beloved for the picture book "Mokera Mokera." I had just returned from three months in Paris, having let go of a long career.
I walked through the hall feeling the floorboards creak underfoot, taking in the work, sometimes sitting down on the tatami. Watching wind and light drift through the space between Motonaga's paintings, I began to think: I want to make something here. That was long before I attempted my first solo show.
