About
烽火書房は京都生まれ在住の編集者・嶋田翔伍が2019年に立ち上げた出版社です。烽火はのろしを意味しており、「必要な時に、必要な人に必ず届くのろしのような本づくりを」と掲げています。例えば遅くて小さなメッセージでも、必ず伝わると信じて活動しています。現在はエッセイ・随筆、サブカルといったジャンルの書籍を中心に刊行中です。著者と二人三脚で本をつくることを大切にし、本づくりの面白さと奥深さをともに体験しながら、一冊の本にまとめて読者のみなさんの手元に届くように日々書籍を編集しています。全国流通の一般書だけでなく、一冊一冊手作業で仕上げるリトルプレス・ZINEも発行しています。
Houka Shobo is a publishing house founded in 2019 by Shogo Shimada, an editor born and living in Kyoto. "Houka" means a signal fire, and our motto is: "To make books like a signal fire that reach the people who need them, without fail, when they are needed." We work in the belief that even a slow, small message will surely get through. At present we mainly publish books in genres such as essays and personal writing, and subculture. We value making books hand in hand with our authors, experiencing together the fascination and depth of bookmaking as we shape it all into a single volume and deliver it into the hands of our readers, editing books day by day. Alongside general trade books distributed nationwide, we also produce little-press editions and zines that we finish one by one entirely by hand.

Why a book
この世にあるすべてのものは本の題材になります。本をつくるという行為を意識し、編集しはじめた時点で、すべての物事と自分にかかわりしろが生まれ、すべての物事は自分と関係しはじめます。本という、強いフォーマットをもち、かつ、シンプルな表現は、外側に広がる広大な宇宙を心的な宇宙に結び付ける行為でもあります。
Everything that exists in this world can become the subject of a book. The moment you become conscious of the act of making a book and begin editing, a point of connection opens up between you and all things, and everything begins to relate to you. The book — a simple form of expression that carries such a strong format — is also an act of tying the vast universe spreading outward to the universe of the mind.
なぜ、わざわざ伊賀へ
Why Iga
知らない土地に行くこと、いつもと違う方法で本を届けること、そうしたことに魅力を感じています。参加を希望する直接的な要因はお誘いをいただいたからではありますが、自分の髪を揺らす風が、どこから来たのか、その根っこをたどりたいと思いました。
Going to an unfamiliar place, delivering books in a way different from usual — I find those things appealing. The immediate reason I wish to take part is that I was invited, but I also wanted to trace the roots of it: where the wind that stirs my own hair comes from.
