About
和歌山県の里山を拠点に、山で入手した素材を起点に本を作ったり、オブジェを作ったりしています。本には裏山に自生する楮から漉いた紙を使うなど、周囲で手に入る材を最大限に活用しています。 過去の出版物は、石や素材のビジュアルリサーチ、制作したオブジェを収録したポートフォリオ、本とオブジェの中間的なものなどがあります。
Based in the satoyama foothills of Wakayama Prefecture, we make books and objects starting from materials we obtain in the mountains. For our books we use paper we make ourselves from the paper mulberry that grows wild on the hill behind us, making the fullest possible use of the materials available around us. Our past publications include visual research on stones and materials, portfolios collecting the objects we have made, and things that sit somewhere between a book and an object.

hinoki reconstructed (Isamu Hazama, 2026, 20cm x 27cm, 24 pages) をメインに、本に加えて収録しているオブジェも合わせて展示できればと考えています。その他、過去の出版物を持参予定です。
Centering on hinoki reconstructed (Isamu Hazama, 2026, 20cm x 27cm, 24 pages), we hope to exhibit not only the book but also the objects included within it. We also plan to bring past publications.
なぜ、わざわざ本を
Why a book
紙に何かを記して束にまとめるということは、小さな子どもでもお絵描き帳をまとめるように、人間に備わった本能的な行為だと感じています。それは効率的に情報発信することが目的の場合は「わざわざ」と捉えられるかもしれませんが、あくまで目の前で感じたことや表現したいことを物質的に整理し、人とコミュニケーションをとろうとした結果の行いだと思います。そこでは“わざわざ”作るという行為自体に意味や喜びがあるように感じています。
To write something on paper and gather it into a bundle is, I feel, an instinctive act inherent in human beings—just as even a small child gathers up a drawing pad. When the aim is to send out information efficiently, this may be seen as going to unnecessary trouble, but I think it is simply what results from trying to materially organize what one has felt and wishes to express right before one’s eyes, and to communicate with others. There, it seems to me, the very act of “going to the trouble” of making something holds its own meaning and joy.
なぜ、わざわざ伊賀へ
Why Iga
普段は山に囲まれた環境で制作していることから、同じく山に囲まれた伊賀の雰囲気に親近感を持ちました。また、古民家で暮らしながら制作しているため、会場の雰囲気の中で展示する様子が容易に想像できました。昔の人が山を伝って別の場所に移動したように、いくつかの山を越えて伊賀にも本を届けられたらと思っています。
Because I usually work in an environment surrounded by mountains, I felt a kinship with the atmosphere of Iga, which is likewise surrounded by mountains. And since I live and work in an old folk house, I could easily picture how it would feel to exhibit within the atmosphere of the venue. Just as people long ago traveled from one place to another by following the mountains, I hope to deliver my books to Iga as well, crossing over several mountains to get there.
